  • This form is for professional photographers, media, and vendors to request approval for photography at school events.

    Please complete all fields below to submit your request. Your application will be reviewed by our Marketing Department, and you will receive a confirmation email once your approval status has been finalized.

    Important: The full District Photography & Privacy Guidelines are located at the end of this form. Please review them carefully, as strict adherence is required for all approved photographers.

  • To ensure student safety, all photographers must have an approved Volunteer Background Check on file.

    • Validity: Approvals are valid for two school years. If you have a current approval on file, you do not need to submit a new one.
    • Check Your Status: If you are unsure if your clearance is still valid, please contact the Administration Office.
    • New Applicants: If you do not have a form on file, please complete the Volunteer Background Check Form after completing this form. (Click the Volunteer Application Button on the Thank You Page)

    District Photography & Privacy Rules

    These rules ensure student safety, protect privacy, and maintain consistent, respectful use of photography across all school events and buildings. Any violation of this policy may result in immediate termination of your contract.

    1. General Photography Rules
      1. Only authorized individuals may take photos at school events, including:
        • District staff
        • Approved student photographers (yearbook and media programs)
        • Pre-approved professional photographers
        • Credentialed media with district permission
      2. Photography is not allowed in private or sensitive spaces, including:
        • Bathrooms
        • Locker rooms
        • Health offices
        • Counseling offices
        • Classrooms during instructional time unless approved
      3. Student Media Permissions (Opt-Out Compliance)
        1. The district maintains an updated media opt-out list.
        2. Students with media restrictions:
          • May not be photographed or filmed at any time.
          • Must be positioned out of group photos when possible.
          • Must be cropped or blurred before posting if they appear unintentionally.
        3. Staff and photographers must be informed of restricted students prior to the event.
    2. Photographer Requirements
      • Photographers must be approved by the district.
      • Must check in at the office and wear a visible district-issued ID or visitor badge.
    3. Appropriate Content
      Photos must:
      • Show students in safe, respectful, and appropriate contexts.
      • Avoid moments of distress, disciplinary situations, or medical issues.
      • Reflect the positive mission and values of Bangor Township Schools.
      Photos may not include:
      • Injuries or accidents
      • Sensitive student information (grade reports, IEPs, attendance data, computer screens)
      • Private conversations
      • Close-up photos of students eating unless part of an approved project
    4. Use and Distribution of Photos
      • Photos taken for the district must be submitted for review (communications team or building admin) before public posting.
      • Media or external photographers may publish photos only in accordance with district approval and student permissions.
    5. Safety & Conduct Requirements
      • Follow staff direction at all times.
      • Do not block exits, aisles, or event flow.
      • Maintain appropriate professional behavior around students.
    6. Violations
      Failure to follow district photography and privacy rules may result in:
      • Immediate revocation of photography privileges
      • Removal from the event
      • Loss of future access
      • For external photographers/vendors: termination of the vendor relationship
